A PAID COMPANION
by Amanda Quick
Putnam Publishing Group
ISBN #0399151745
432 pages-hardcover

Don't miss this exciting new historical, THE PAID COMPANION, available May 3rd. Sexy, charming, intelligent fun: a delectable romp from the deft pen of Amanda Quick.

The Earl of St. Merryn needs a woman. His intentions are purely practical—he simply wants someone sensible and suitably lovely to pose as his betrothed for a few weeks among polite society. He has his own agenda to pursue, and a false fiancée will keep the husband-hunters at bay while he goes about his business. The simplest solution is to hire a paid companion.

Finding the right candidate proves more of a challenge than he expected. But when he encounters Miss Elenora Lodge, the fire in her golden eyes sways him to make a generous offer.

Her sorry financial circumstances—and dreams of a life of independence—convince her to accept. But St. Merryn appears to be hiding a secret or two, and things seem oddly amiss in his gloomy London home. Elenora soon discovers that this lark will be a far more dangerous adventure than she'd been led to believe. And the Earl of St. Merryn will find that the meek and mild companion he'd initially envisioned has become a partner in his quest to catch a killer—and an outspoken belle of the ball who stirs a bothersome passion in his practical heart.

WICKED WIDOW
Wicked Widow

In another Regency-era historical romance, best-selling author Amanda Quick captivates her audience with the antics of Madeline Reed Deveridge, the infamous Wicked Widow, and Artemis Hunt, owner of Dream Pavilions, a well-known pleasure garden. When her maid is kidnapped outside his establishment, Madeline blackmails Artemis into helping her by threatening to expose his secret ownership of Dream Pavilions.

Spunky Madeline is rumored to have murdered her husband, who was involved in Vanza, an underground society. Artemis is a master of Vanza, perfectly suited to handle Madeline's problems, as he skillfully works his way into her heart. After her disastrous marriage, naïve Madeline distrusts men and is ill prepared to combat the unsettling feeling that Artemis evokes. When her husband's ghost threatens Madeline, the odd couple is whisked into intrigue and ancient mysteries, confronting a calculating killer.

Filled with sharp, witty dialogue, tantalizing passion, and mounting suspense, it's an enjoyable period piece done in Ms. Quick's award-winning style. You'll find the Wicked Widow reminiscent of Affair, With this Ring and I Thee Wed.

MYSTIQUE

MYSTIQUE is filled with sharp wit, romantic jousting, compelling suspense, and well developed characters. Quick shifts romance readers back to medieval times. Battle-weary warrior Sir Hugh the Restless meets the quick-witted beauty Lady Alice in his quest for a mysterious green crystal. The crystal is believed to be the key to prosperiety for Hugh's newly inherited land. Since both Hugh and Lady Alice claim the missing gem as their own, they strike a bargain to join forces in the search for the missing jewel. An interesting arry of villians and subplots are mingled in the couple's journey to romance. MYSTIQUE is a cut above the typical historical romance. It's delightful reading.

Mistress

Set in the Regency era, MISTRESS is the tale of Iphigginia Bright, who decides to masquerade as the mistress of notorious rouge Marcus Cloud, Earl of Masters, whom she believes to be dead. The heroine is trying to find out who is blackmailing her Aunt Zoe. The feigned romance becomes a reality when Marcus returns from his country estate and seeks out his "mistress". The supposedly widowed Ms. Bright joins forces with the earl as other blackmail attempts come to light. Their investion leads to several discoveries, including the magic of love. Lighthearted romance with just the right touch of mystery makes this sparkling love story superior to the ususal Regency romance.

DECEPTION

Once again, Amanda Quick offers a enthralling romance in a Regency setting in her novel DECEPTION. Young and alone, Olympia Wingfield hires handsome Jarred Chillhurst to tutor her three nephews. His real mission is to gain a secret diary which Olympia is deciphering. The diary is claimed to be the key in locating a West Indian treasure. When Jarred becomes a member of Olympia's household, he takes her young nephews in hand, chases threatening villians, protects his true identity as a viscount, and continues his business enterprises. The mutual attraction between hero and heroine results in bedroom frolics. Mystery, romantic suspense, and Amanda Quick humor make Deception the perfect choice as the author's debut in hardcover.

DANGEROUS

Hot passion sizzles though this searing historical romance. Amanda Quick combines breathtaking mystery and the magic of romance in this novel. Prudence Merryweather knew the risk she took by visiting a gentleman in the dead of night. Her reasons overrode her concern for her reputation. She was determined to stop the Earl of Angelstone from his scheduled duel with her hot-headed young brother. She slips into the earl's home to convince him to call off the confrontation with her brother and finds hersel falling in love. DANGEROUS is a dynamic mixture of danger and romance which delivers enjoyment from page one.

RECKLESS

RECKLESS is another sure success for Amanda Quick. Set in Regency England, the novel takes the heroine Phoebe Layton on the journey to romance. She has admired Gabriel Banner since she was a child and doesn't hesitate to ask him to accept an important quest for her. Phoebe invites him to a midnight rendezvous and finds herself facing a dangerously distressing man who is nothing like the gallant knights in her dreams. It's a great read rated five-star in reader comments.

SEDUCTION

This delightful novel is one of Miss Quick's best. Country-bred Sophy Dorring agrees to a marriage of convenience to dark, enigmatic Julian, Earl of Ravenwood. His legendary temper and his first wife's mysterious death clouds his image with the locals who call him "devil". Some say the first Lady Ravenwood drowned herself in the murky water of Ravenwood Pond. Others believe she was murdered by her husband. Sophy is drawn to the burning desire that lights Julian's piercing green eyes and intends to teach him to love again. A blackmail plot and a duel at dawn are just some of the instruments that hold the reader's attention and marks SEDUCTION as another of Amanda Quick's bestselling romance novels.
